Whoever said uni was easy?
Hello my finals are not over but I was so done with exams after the first paper sorry i tried I promise to study harder and wiser next sem!!!!! (why are finals a thing; why is my cap a cumulative grade)

But anyway since the semester has ended I figured I would do a module review because i make terrible life choices (kidding)

GE1101E - Geographical Journeys: Exploring World Environment
Expected/Actual: A/B+

I took this because I was 70% sure then that I wanted to major in geog, and I guess I'm more less settled with it being my major!!! Profs were my favorite because Chow and Chang really tried so hard to make the subject come alive and engage students. Workload was okay - I mean a project and 2 lab practicals??? You can't actually complain, Splitting readings and making notes among pals is a great idea and I suggest everybody to do it because Uni is tough already, please don't make it tougher on yourself. You might feel overwhelmed with the physical geog part tho, because 5 different spheres in 6 weeks is just crazy?? Specialise in one or two or three, because what they test for finals is really either a general overview or a specific part. Citing authors would also be a good advantage in your essay please do (I didn't). Prof Chang also gave me a mint halfway through the exam :')

Hint: Having buddies to group with for the human geog project would actually make the journey a lot easier.

PL1101E - Introduction to Psychology
Expected/Actual: B-/B

I wasn't sure if I would want to major in psychology or not, but I spent 200+ points on this module so eh it's okay. They changed their lecture style this year - more of a "read up on your own and view past year webcast and then ask questions if you're unsure which we'll discuss in lecture and i'll just highlight some important parts and show you videos" kind of thing. To be honest, I did watch past year webcast during the earlier part of the semester, but I stopped doing so after mid terms. Even though Prof Elliott was nice, but you need a cup of coffee to get through the lecture. But do go for lectures because the videos he shows are pretty cool!!! I liked doing RPs because some of them were really fun (also a great way to make some money when you broke as hell but if you doing them for points....then you won't be paid) Tutorials was fun because of R and the boys who are all crazy knowledgeable about psych (which made me feel like a fraud) and made monday tutorials a little less boring. I honestly would have like mid terms/finals better if it was all MCQ, but is was 75 MCQ and 5 structured questions that were worth 5 marks each. I spent a lot of time studying for this aka making notes and doing online MCQs!! Highly competitive mod, take only if intending to major (added advantage if you took Bio before) because interest will not take you far.

Warning: Take this if you have loads of free memory in your brain - and you can remember things fast and accurate.

GE2228 - Weather & Climate
Expected/Actual: A/A-

Mainly took this because I thought somebody would take it but... no. But no regrets in taking this mod (even though I didn't get the lab timing that I wanted), and it made me miss Ms J and Mr Han a whole lot!!! Prof Roth is a very interesting person (who scours foreign websites for his weekly 'climate in the news' section) and answers questions in a way that makes the student even more ??? 4 practicals which can be fun when there's hands on activities but calculations and equations just killed me. TAs are very nice and helpful and provides hints, so just ask if the lab is confusing. My lab group meets up to discuss the practical which I think is good because it helps you clarifies your doubts if you're the lost sheep (but discussion always ends like 8/9). Really liked this mod because it's really relevant and it something you can see all around you!!! It was my first finals, and like doing past year papers really helped because he recycled a lot of the MCQ questions, and the structured questions part was really direct and straightforward!!

Note: Sometimes if you don't get the lab timing you wanted it might be a blessing in disguise.

NM2209 - Social Psychology in New Media
Expected/Actual: C/C

Didn't actually plan on taking this mod this semester, but I didn't manage to get my GEM mod and this still had space. I really like Prof Lim - she's very engaging and supportive during tutorials. Also web lectures are like 15-20 mins on average and there's 2-3 of such videos to watch, so I really like the concept of how the web lectures are. It's not content heavy and it's very relatable so if you love technology or social media, this mod was made for you. Advisable to start on actively searching for newspaper article early (I did my newspaper reflection last minute so I got a pretty bad grade )-: )

Hint: Be the first to say something... or you'll be left with nothing to say.

GET1016 - Understanding the Changing Global Economic Landscape
Expected/Actual: B/B-

Took this because I thought it would help me understand globalisation more but I'm just like ???? Safe to say I am not going to plan anymore 8am lectures because it was a torture waking up so early (especially when I slept late doing lab on wednesday night) Prof is like a typical dad - tells life stories, bad jokes and possibly forgetful. He goes through the previous lecture slides every week??? (I cannot handle) Also only module that made me buy a course pack reader, which was good because I didn't have to print readings every week. Favourite lecture was the one with the guest lecture - I really liked that. Wei Yi's a very nice tutor!! Also very thankful for the group of girls that made my Monday mornings a little less blue. Slightly taxing because individual report and group project and tutorial posting on forum (which I gave up after first week)??? Also I have yet to study for this because exam on Wednesday but /exhales deeply/

Hint: It's ok if you are a bit late for lecture, he tends to wait a bit.

/edit: looking back at this post after (almost) a year of being a fresh graduate
(statistically proven that I am an average B/B+ student, so please don't listen to me if you don't want to)

you are the author of your own life so write your own story
